Reaching out to a counselor takes something. Maybe you have had this page open for a week. Maybe you have typed a message and deleted it twice. Before you send a single word, you deserve to know who reads it and what happens to it.

This policy explains what Selah - A Space Between, LLC ("Selah," "we," "us") collects through selahaspacebetween.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This website and your counseling records are two different things

This policy covers the website only: the pages you read and the contact form you fill out.

Once you become a client, what you share in session and what goes in your record is protected by HIPAA and by state law. Those protections are stronger than anything on this page. They are explained in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you will also receive before your first appointment. If this policy and that Notice ever disagree about your health information, the Notice controls.

Visiting this site or sending us a message does not make you a client and does not start a counseling relationship. That begins when you and a Selah counselor agree to work together.

What we collect

What you give us. When you fill out the contact form, we receive what you type: your name, email address, phone number, and your message. If you call or email us, we receive whatever you choose to share.

What is collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic technical details when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you viewed, the site that sent you here, and the date and time. Our website host, Squarespace, collects this through cookies.

What we do not collect here. We do not take payments, insurance details, or clinical information through this website. Those are handled after you become a client, through systems built to protect health information.

How we use it

We use what you send us to:

Answer your message and help you schedule a first appointment
Figure out which counselor may be the right fit for what you are facing
Keep the website working and protect it from spam and misuse
See which pages people find useful so we can improve the site
Meet our legal and professional obligations

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it or trade it. We do not use it to advertise to you on other websites.

Who else sees it

Your message goes to the Selah staff who handle new inquiries. A small number of outside companies touch it because they run the tools the site depends on:

Squarespace hosts the website and delivers contact form submissions to us. See the Squarespace privacy policy.
Google reCAPTCHA protects the contact form from spam. Google collects device and usage details to do this, under the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Our email provider delivers and stores the messages you send us.

We may also share information when the law requires it, such as a court order, or when it is needed to protect someone's safety. We do not share it with anyone else.

Before you hit send

The contact form and regular email are not secure enough for sensitive health details. They work well for a first hello. They are not the place for your whole story.

So keep the first message short. Your name, the best way to reach you, and one sentence about what you are looking for is enough. "My daughter is struggling with anxiety and I want to talk to someone" tells us what we need. The rest can wait until you are talking with a counselor, where it is protected.

We do not monitor the form or our inbox around the clock. If you or someone you love is in danger right now, call 911. You can also call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at any hour.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files a website places on your device. Ours come from Squarespace and do two jobs: some keep the site running and secure, and some count visits and page views so we can see how the site is used. The counts come to us as totals. We do not use them to identify you.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work. [If Google Analytics, a Meta pixel, or any other tracking tool is turned on, name it here and say what it collects.]

Children and teens

We counsel children and teens, but this website is written for adults: the parents and guardians looking for help on their behalf. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 through this site.

If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you. If you believe a child has sent us information through the site, tell us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

If you contact us and do not become a client, we keep your message for [time period] and then delete it. If you become a client, your inquiry becomes part of your record and is kept for as long as the law requires.

How we protect it

The site runs on an encrypted connection, and only the staff who handle inquiries can see form submissions. No website or email system can promise perfect security, which is why we ask you to keep the first message brief.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we have from your use of this site, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email admin@selahaspacebetween.com or call 656-756-6469. We will answer within 30 days. If the information has become part of a client record, your rights are described in the Notice of Privacy Practices.

Links to other sites

Our site links to our Instagram and Facebook pages. Those companies have their own privacy policies, and we do not control what they collect. Please do not send personal or health details to us through social media messages or comments.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
